Game Freeze while connecting for the first time
Need More Info, NormalPublic

Description

Hey people
I have an issue with dayz freezing while trying to connect to a server for the first time in a day
Whenever I try to join a server after starting the game, the game always continues on to the black and white loading screen while functioning normally for a few seconds, after which all sound stops and the game freezes on me, forcing me to shut it down manually via task manager.
During the freeze, it is listed as inactive in the task list.
When I restart the game afterwards, and I try to connect to the same server, it always lets me do that without any issue.
Trying to connect to a different server results in the game freezing again.
Sometimes, when I wait long enough during the freeze (5-10 minutes), it unfreezes, showing me the main menu sceen and a "Session lost" notification. Similarily, connecting to the same server eliminates the problem.
I play on stable branch 0.61.138792

Unusual backgroung processes include Gopro studio updater and F.lux (if thats any help)
I don´t use recording software of any kind
For some reason i couldn´t find the crash dumps, or even the dayz folder in the appdata folder (maybe thet´s the source of the problem)

Hello Pugspect0r and thank you for the report.
The crash dumps are not created when the game does not crash but freezes/is closed through task manager so for that reason there are no crash dumps. However, the appdata folder should be present in C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\DayZ (the appdata folder is not visible by default, so make sure your hidden folders and files are enabled in windows). As for the freeze, are your video drivers up to date? Have you tried to verify the game cache through Steam? And can you try to remove the contents of your C:\Users\*username*\Documents\DayZ and let us know if that has any effect on the issue?

Geez

Thanks Geez for the swift reply.
Oops, my bad, I´m not very proficient with software stuff, didn´t know that I had to make the folder visible...
To the task at hand, I have the latest NVidia driver installed, and verifying the cache didn´t fix the issue.
However, I noticed thet when I delete the DayZ folder from the Documents folder and then copy in the files from the backup DayZ folder I created, it won´t let me connect to server X even when I already tried to connect before deleting the original folder, if that helps in any way.
Cheers,
Pugspect0r
