I know that the character idle animations are meant to breath them in some life but most of them are annoying as hell.
- Sitting in the left chair of the very big explorer truck is making the character wipe the screen every 5 seconds! constantly! I am sure if he is making a longer trip he will get a hole in his suit. The right chair has no animation at all. Which is way better that an annoying one.
- When standing still (e.g. while rotating stuff to assemble something) the character starts to "dance" making it really hard to assemble something in tight spaces. It also makes what you are holding to bump into structures (which rotates what you are holding [often] in the most annoying way).
Often enough I have thrown things instead of assemble them because just in that moment the figure has started to move.
It can also produce sickness.
There are two possible solutions:
a) Is bit more complicated. Remove all camera movement from those random (?) idle animations .. or at least make it optional. (means you have to program that certain animation have counter movements to the camera... all animations would be easy, just tie the cam not anymore to the head, but since some are still wanted ... aka. crouching entering a chair and so on ... it is a bit more complicated)
b) The easy way out is: Prohibit all idle animations when character is holding stuff.
